Reverend Simon Siegfried was the first Senior Pastor for Goshen Baptist Church serving 1827 - 1830, and 1834 - 1835. 

Rev. Siegfried was born in Bucks County on September 23, 1797. As a young man he apprenticed as a printer in Doylestown and later moved to West Chester in 1824, where he purchased and ran the American Republican newspaper until 1829. He went on to publish several papers in West Chester and Downingtown, including the Temperance Advocate, the Whig, and the Republican Standard and Democratic Journal.

He was active in local politics, serving as Clerk of the Chester County Orphan’s Court from 1828 to 1830, and was a manager of the Chester County Colonization Society, an anti‑slavery group advocating for an African colony for freed slaves.

Beginning in 1835, Siegfried lived in Philadelphia, then move to western Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Ohio, continuing both his publishing work and his ministry. He briefly returned to Chester County in 1872 before accepting another pastorate in Ohio. He later moved to Evansville, Indiana, where he died in 1879 at the age of eighty‑two.
