Goshen is a mission-minded church all year round. But every fall we set aside time to put a special focus in on God’s global vision for the spread of his Gospel. This year, with the theme “HOPE in Desperate Times,” we draw attention to the deeply troubled state of our world, but also to the ultimate solution to humanity’s greatest woes: new life in Jesus—a life of purpose now and joy forever!
Our guest preachers who will be sharing in the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship services are:
- October 20: Jerry Iamurri, Executive Director/CEO, InFaith, speaking on "Our Meaningful Mission" (John 1:1-5). <<>> InFaith has been raising up local US ministries for over 200 years. Jerry brings experience as an attorney and as a pastor (in both urban and rural settings) to his leadership role. He has a passion to see InFaith staff effectively share the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the United States.
- October 27: Jack Nelson, President and Founder, Worldlink, speaking on "The Privilege of Setting Captives Free" (2 Tim. 2:24-26; Heb. 2:14-15). <<>> Worldlink empowers indigenous Christian missionaries to share God’s love in some of the world’s most difficult places. Jack has served in youth, camping, and church planting ministries, and he’s been involved in international outreach for over thirty years.
Mission-oriented Sunday School Classes on October 27, 10:00 a.m.:
- Adults: Jack Nelson will also be teaching a combined adult class on "What in the World Is God Doing?" (Fellowship Hall)
- High School and Middle School Students: Shane Franklin, Worldlink Engagement Coordinator (Youth Room).

International Luncheon on October 27, 12:15 p.m. (Family Life Center):

Special Missions Offering:
- This year our over-and-above project supports El Rancho del Rey, a Christian home for boys near Monterrey, Mexico. RDR was founded by Hank & Anne Moller in 1956 to share the gospel with at-risk inner-city boys. Their son, Dan, continues the work at the ranch, which can house up to 64 boys. Since its founding, over 2,000 children have been served.
- Our project is “Back to Basics”: RDR uses butane fuel to heat their residential and ministry facilities, and to heat water for their kitchen and bathrooms. If Goshen can pick up the tab for butane fuel for the next year, this will free up RDR staff to focus attention all the more on evangelism, discipleship, education, and outreach into the community.
- Our goal is to raise $6,000 for one year of butane. To donate, designate your gift for “Special Missions Offering” (checks payable to Goshen Baptist Church) by Sunday, November 24. Thanks in advance for your contributions!
