Every year we set aside a two-week season to give special emphasis to a topic that is urgent 365 days a year: the mission of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
Our theme this year is this: "On the Move: Spreading the Gospel from Everywhere to Everywhere." God is sending his witnesses both to and from the ends of the earth. Followers of Jesus are scattered to gather; they are also on mission to gather the scattered--all so that people from all nations might find true and eternal life in Christ!
Our Fall Focus on Missions for 2025 will include two guest preachers:
--Oct. 19, Dr. Bulus Galadima, Catalyst for Diasporas, Lausanne Movement (see bio here). Dr. Galadima will be speaking at 8:30 & 11:00 a.m. on, “Christian Hospitality and the Gospel” (Ruth 2). He will also lead a combined adult Sunday School session on, “Diaspora Missiology” (10:00 a.m., Fellowship Hall).
--Oct. 26, Shelby Abbott, author and speaker with FamilyLife (see bio here). Shelby will be speaking at 8:30 & 11:00 a.m. on, “Answering the Purposeful Call” (Matthew 4:18-22).
Also note: On Sunday, Oct. 12, our Wycliffe Missionary in SE Asia will speak to children’s Sunday School (10:00 a.m., Sanctuary). And on Sunday, Oct. 26, Nate Kutz and Jake Lawton will share with Middle School and High School students about their missions experiences in the Middle East and Montana (10:00 a.m., Youth Room).
Special Missions Offering: Our over-and-above project this year is “Feeding Body & Soul,” to assist our mission partners in the Middle East. Here’s the two-part plan: 1) Our partners serve refugees by providing food boxes to meet the pressing needs of hundreds of local families living in their Mediterranean region. 2) And our partners are preparing to ship a large quantity of New Testaments to their mission colleagues in war-torn, Muslim-majority Sudan—a vital resource for sharing the good news of Jesus and his offer of eternal life. Our goal is to raise $6,000. To donate, designate gifts for “Special Missions Offering” (checks payable to Goshen Baptist Church) by Sunday, November 23. Thanks!
